Tennessee at Georgia

Postby slim_jimmy7 » Sat Mar 10, 2012 5:09 am

Tennessee shocked Georgia in Georgia Friday evening 21-14. Tennessee clinched at least an at large bid for a bowl game and will hold out to see how the Arkansas Razorbacks do to see if they will still be in the race for the conference title. It was Coach Slim's first victory against the Bulldogs, last year Tennessee fell to the Dogs in a crushing loss that costed them the conference title.

The game started off very ugly when Aaron Murray of the Bulldogs threw an interception deep in Volunteer territory. Tennessee returned the favor and Nick Lamaison threw one right back around midfield. Georgia was able to take advantage of the turnover and took a 7-0 lead on an Isaiah Crowell TD scamper. Tennessee started the second quarter by tying up the score when Nick Lamaison threw a TD strike to none other than Antrel Dillon. After forcing a 4 and out for the Bulldogs, RB Tauren Poole took over the offensive output for the Volunteers and was able to drive Tennessee into a 14-7 lead at the half.

Tennessee than added to that number after a methodical drive which saw Ezekial Jones score on a touchdown run to put the game 21-7 midway through the 3rd. Georgia was able to fight back midway through the 4th quarter with an Aaron Murray to Isaiah Crowell TD pass. Tennessee than ran out most of the clock, Georgia tried one last TD heave only to fall short.
