lets say manning if having a good day throwing against the great secondary of Seattle. but Seattle is scoring with Denver and Seattle takes the lead with 4 minutes left in game.

Super Bowl on the line, peyton starts at his 20 yrd line, peyton does his thing and is driving down the field. peyton has 30 seconds left, peyton hits welker and welker could walk into endzone but instead he loses teh ball and seattle recovers for the ballgame.(or any scenerio like this)

you cant blame manning but yet because his TEAM did not win the super bowl, brady still better?

try to look at the TEAM more instead of the individual

Well...I think you ar egoing out on a limb by saying this extreme. If this did happen I would have to put that in to the equation for sure. For the most part, Manning has to win this SB to jump ahead of Brady in my book .

That's been Manning's life the past 8 years!! Finally someone gets it, only it's been his defense to choke. He plays flawless vs Baltimore last year and his D gives up the most ridiculous TD probably in recent playoff history.... then followed by a Manning INT in OT and all of a sudden it's his fault.

TSBdork refuses to acknowledge the other factors in success.... like how Peyton has a better rating than Brady in the playoffs.... and that Brady won 3 superbowls with a top 5 defense each season. Manning won his with the 28th defense.... REALLY?

Flawless? He blew the game in overtime with an INT....Far from flawless. People are getting it twisted when they talk about the Patriots defenses. They never had a SF, Balt, or Seattle defense ever, not even close. Had a good defense but never a great defens ein all of Brady's seasons by any stretch of the imagination. Mannning's defense that won the Super Bowl was playing real good in the playoffs, much different from regular season. Just like peyton plays much different than the reg season :).. I mean Peyton is da man, but he has to win the SB to surpass Brady, that is common sense in most experts eyes, INCLUDING THIS EXPERT! <------------------

With that then..

1.) Is Brady better than Manning?

NO! It's like Coke and Pepsi, they are on equal footing.

2.) Is Brady the best QB in the NFL today?

No, When healthy its Aaron Rodgers.

3.) Is Brady the best QB in this Era?

See question 1

4.) Is Brady the Best QB of All Time?

No. For me it's a Montana/Marino discussion. If those guys played in today's era I think we'd see a 60 TD season.

i agree with kierre, except for montana. good/great qb, but not the best imo. but manning and brady are the same and rodgers is a stud who is building a hell of a career in the shadows of the brady manning era.

Honestly Montana's, Marino's, and Peyton's and Brady's average seasonal adjusted numbers look VERY similar OVER their careers. B

My 2 cents

AVG COACHING DURING CAREER
1. BRADY/MONTANA
2. MARINO
3. MANNING

AVG DEFENSIVE TALENT DURING CAREER

1. MONTANA
2. BRADY
3. MANNING/MARINO

AVG OFFENSIVE TALENT DURING CAREER
1. PEYTON
2. BRADY (been about half offense / half defense)
3. MONTANA (early and late years were lean)
4. MARINO

For offense, Montana would be #2, not #1 and htis is not even close. Rice, Taylor, Brent Jones, Rathman, and craig? You really do not think Brady has had better than this over his carer do you? Unless I am reading this wrong?

Also, Shula was a much better coach than Bill Walsh. Other than that I have no beefs with that list.

Overall... Montana teams were the best out of these 4 QB's in my opinion. Toss up between Brady/Manning and Marino by far had the worst teams on both sides of the ball.

Montana didn't have all those guys for his whole career.

He didn't get Jerry till 85.
Taylor didn't start producing till 89 so he got two years of him
Jones didn't start producing till 89 as well
91 he was out and then he went to KC

Last two years in KC were pretty mediocre offensively.

But ya 89 SF vs 07 NE

RB1 Craig vs Maroney
RB2 Rathman vs Faulk

WR1 Rice vs Moss
WR2 Taylor vs Welker
TE Jones vs Watson
WR3 Wilson vs Stallworth

SF OL vs NE OL

Overall I prefer most of SF's skill players to NE's here but I think its pretty close. And when you factor in the OL difference NE>> SF I think its closer.

The fact you put that Manning had average defensive talent through his career discredits anything you will ever say about football again in my eyes. Only someone who did not watch the Colts a wink throughout the 2000's could/would say that

No I said that his AVERAGE DEFENSIVE TALENT PER SEASON was tied for the worst of the three. Not that he had average defensive talent. I mean why would I have bothered ranking them all if they were all average.

Well....this puts the debate to rest for good probably. There is no question this will hurt Manning's legacy and place in history. Time and time again he is the favorite in big games and more times than not comes up empty. This as the most embarrassing loss maybe ever. AVG 38 points a game in reg season and only manage to put up 8 points? He is the best reg season QB of all time without a doubt in my mind, but when it comes to playoffs he is just another QB who lets the bright lights crush him. I wanted him to win this game so bad so he could surpass Brady, but I am afraid he even is farther behind him now. It's a team game but Manning did not play like one of the best QB's of all time at all. If he walks away from the gaem after this he will not go down as a better QB in history as Tom Brady. If anyone still debates this they are fools. GOR wins again :)

Bruddog, Kyle, or any other Brady hater can spin this super bowl debacle anyway they want but they know deep down inside this was horrendous from Peyton. This really scars his image. He only has one way to save his legacy, win the SB next season. Anything short of that he is way behind Brady as we speak.

This was a dreadful game, no denying that

With that said, I doubt people think less of Peyton, they just won't think more of him.... and rightfully so. This was a game where he directly was a major reason for the L.

You can't put together the correlation of success of Brady having a top 5 defense his in 3 of his 4 super bowl wins (#4 was a direct result of the worst play call in Super Bowl history) versus Manning having a bottom 10 defense his entire career. Where was Brady when they lost to the FAR inferior Giants those 2 years?

Brady is clearly the better QB in present time, there is no arguing that.

Brady is the best right now and may be the greatest of all time. Has won more w less versus peyton, 2007 season, last year comeback in super bowl v. historically great defense scored 14 against em in the 4th, etc, etc. He is the best of all time

You are crazy. System QB Haha..that is more like Russell Wilson or Trent Dilfer terms. Brady should never be in same sentence as a system QB, pretty laughable comment Ryan. Cassell did not have a Brady season, not even close. I agree BeliDICK is a great coach, but Brady makes him more than the other way around. I think Brady is much smarter than Peyton and Rodgers and it is not even close. Guy does not have the god gifted ability of most, so his intelligence (Football IQ) makes up for it. He knows what all players on defense is going to do before they even do it. He is always one step ahead of them.
