the fact that God is a name in itself is reason enough to beleive he/it exists.

I believe some sort of something exists somehow somewhere, not sure exactly what it is and I doubt any living being ever walking this planet will ever know. I think life is planned like a choose your own adventure book, the paths are laid down and the real decisions are few and far inbetween.

I do. Here are some arguments for the existence of God.

I used to be fairly religious, but after the past 6 years, I'm not so sure. I don't know if it's 8 years of religious schooling, or the 4 years in the "Bible Belt", but everything has changed. I try not to get down, but some days I can't help it and wonder.

This is fairly close to my beliefs. Whatever that something is, I am thankful to it for life. I do believe in right and wrong and the benefits of right and kindness.

You can use logic to get to some sort of "higher being's" existence.

Everything must come from something. A pebble from a stone, a stone from a rock, a rock from a boulder, a boulder from the Earth, the Earth (and other planets) formed from condensed space rock, space rock from.....?

There has to be a point where the first existence of matter came into being from nothing..... there is your "higher being."

And if your argument is "where does the higher being come from?"; that is the nature of a higher being (God). He was, is, and will be. He IS in all times, past present and future.

I believe in the God of the Bible.

Over the years you've asked this question or talked about it many times via boards or AIM. Seems like you are searching, I'd love to talk to you about what God has done in my life through Jesus Christ.

God is real, He desires for you to know Him, He sent His Son to die for you so it could happen.

I think it's ironic that 4 years of being in a christian school can make me lose faith. I didn't want to go to my school, but still.

It sounds like you never had the Faith to begin with addict. I went to a Catholic school for 12 years, and while I did not necessarily enjoy all the religion classes I had to take, I definitely learned a lot and carried that on into my life now. God tests you with times of trail. It's how you respond in those times that shows your true devotion to Him.

Have you ever heard the poem "Footprints"? I think this might apply to you right now. Here is the link.

This is what you believe....there is no evidence or proof that this is 100% true. I believe in GOD but I can't say without questioning that there is a GOD. People say I can show or tell you what God has done in my life for me but then says we make our own breaks at times. I just find it funny that all the good thathappens in our life is GOD and when shit hits the fan it's our own doing.... Maybe I am being an idiot but that is how I feel. Don't get me wrong, I believe but I have no proof or facts, only FAITH alone.

So all the gruesome crimes that take our loved one or very little ones are just our doing right? If God wanted us in heaven he could just take us peacefully? Or do we have to be cut up i 100,000 pieces by some sick demented serial killer? Here is the part where people say...... there is evil in the world, people are going to do what they want to do regardless of the " PERFECT WORLD" GOD created. LOL HILARIOUS

When someone gets to heaven from the tecmo community, please give me a hint or sign that you made it safely!

There's a difference between Episcopalians and "true" Southern Baptists. People where I went to school would never drink or swear. People would walk up to you and ask if you are saved. I hung out with athletes since they all weren't like that, but the school was very conservative. I'm conservative, but nowhere near that level. I remember in high school I would go to optional church services since it was an Episcopal high school and was part of the majority. If things start to turn around a little bit in my life, maybe I'll get involved in an Episcopal church again. It is what it is. I think its obvious that I'm depressed with how my life has turned out over the past 5 or 6 years, as I never expected to be in this spot, but just gotta deal with it.

Psalm 14
For the director of music. Of David.

1 Fools say in their hearts,
“There is no God.”
They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
there is no one who does good.

2 The LORD looks down from heaven
on the human race
to see if there are any who understand,
any who seek God.
3 All have turned away, all have become corrupt;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.

4 Do all these evildoers know nothing?

They devour my people as though eating bread;
they never call on the LORD.
5 But there they are, overwhelmed with dread,
for God is present in the company of the righteous.
6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor,
but the LORD is their refuge.

7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
When the LORD restores his people,
let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

I believe there is for sure a God. And for those of you who think there is some sort of a God but think we will never know him I disagree with that. Why would a God create us and never want us to know him and never want anything to do with us. I think God created us and he wants us to know him and I think he wants to show himself to us.
I know in my life I was addicted to alcohol and becoming worse by the year, my drinking started to lead to more and more blackout nights, driving drunk a lot more and more... then i start fighting... then i started fighting my friends and anyone i was around. I would wake up the next morning thinking i am way out of conntrol and need to stop, i would stop for maybe a couple days but then right back to the same old stuff. i kept doing that on and off again for a couple years. i felt trapped, like how come i cant beat this? I had played sports in high school and some JUCO ball and so i had overcome a lot of challenges in those so i figured i could get this... but i couldnt it actually kept getting worse... That is when a friend of mine invited me to a church and a bible study, i remember reading the bible and thinking "wow, it actually says this in the bible!" I didnt know all that stuff was in the bible. But as i kept reading it and studying it, i started to think about my life and how opposite it was to the stuff in the bible. I kept reading and it just seemed like life became clearer... i was finally becoming the person i thought i was but could never be... it was just like before i kept being a bad person even though i knew a good person was inside me. So after some weeks in the bible i had started to pray for my drinking... i was seriously going to kill myself or someone with my driving while drunk. it was really bad, ill just put it at that... purposly going up wrong ways on one way streets ect... so like i said i prayed about it and asked god for help, i read scriptures about Jesus giving us freedom... and then all the sudden i was able to say no to drinking, all my friends made fun of me and kept getting me to drink... i halfway expected to give in, but for some reason, i didnt i kept saying no and kept saying no and before i knew it, i was free from my addiction to alcohol! I dont know how to explain it i had tried so hard, but when i went to god for help, he came through, and he has done many other things to help me, got me thorugh fear with babymama drama, he helped to restore my relationship with babymama so it is peaceful, he helped me get over addiction to porn, to selfishness, to being a real jerk also!
Through following the Lord i met my wife, we are happily married. I have seen some crazy things gentlemen, I have seen undeniable healings take place right in front of my eyes. Call me crazy, but if you had seen what i have seen you would not call it crazy. It was friends of mine i saw these things in, not someone i never met that could have been lying. i could tell you specifically what i saw but you dont know me so you prolly wont believe it.
And in all this, everyone on this board God wants to reveal himself to. for me it started out just reading a little bible and asking god if he was real to just show me. that is all it has to start at. i challenge you who doubt things about god, just ask him to show you if he is real. nothing big, just ask and see what happens.

great post justin. I was in a similar situation and God was there the whole time unknowingly to me. God reached out to me in 2006 and while I saw it then, it wasn't until last summer when God reached out again to me that I fully came around.

I'm glad to see this forum getting some use again. It was popular a few years ago, but those tecmoers have come and gone. Matlisab is still around at times though.

I believe in God. Just not the God of the Bible, or perhaps more specifically, not the God of the Old Testament.

I have no proof of God's existence other than my own consciousness and the fact that my consciousness exists. I do NOT believe I created my own consciousness. I believe something "outside of me" created "me". (other than my parents sexual reproductive activities) of course.

Although I believe in God, the only thing I know for "certain" is that I know nothing (shout out to Socrates!! -Google the quote!!) My belief in God is more of a "feeling" than something I can logically use words to describe/detail on a message board.

Its an awesome question, probably the only question which matters in life.

The only other question which matters being...

What is the Matrix?

great first movie, disappointing second and third!!

I'm not the most religious but I do believe there is some kind of creator...the most compelling question is where did all of this come from?

I'd be curious to hear more about this Corey. I don't understand how you can not believe in the God of the Old Testament, but seemingly leave room for belief in the God of the New Testament.

Also, how do you know your "feelings" are accurate? We can all be manipulated by feelings. What authority to you base your belief in God?

Just some stuff to chew on.
